I am living Agile. Well, I’m trying to, anyway. I believe in the theories and ideas behind Agile so strongly that I even apply them to my personal life. It’s true! When I am planning a trip, it becomes a sprint. My husband and I have daily standups (while walking around our local pond) and meet weekly for family retrospectives. As I grow my business, I use a kanban board to manage our process.
So, I know when you came to this page you expected to see all my certifications, memberships, education. Well, yeah. I have that. It’s right here. But, I figured since I have you here, I really want to go beyond what you thought you’d find.
I worked hard for those creds, but they don’t really help you understand how deeply I really “get” Agile in the BI and DW worlds.
I’ve been swimming in this water for more than 20 years, and Agile + Data makes sense to me. It just makes sense. And it’s fun! It’s exciting. And I feel like I’ve found my space. And I’m excited to share it with you and be an Agile Analytics promoter!
My first job out of grad school in the mid-90’s was business analyst for a startup. Naturally, the folks who had invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into our company cared very much that the data they reviewed each month was reliable and insightful… hence I became THE “data warehouse” for that company, providing 54 “critical success factors” to the executives and board of directors each month. My second job was as a software developer for an agile consulting firm. Here I am, years later, still excited and inspired by the data and agile worlds. I intrinsically see how Agile works for BI and DW. Watch my blog for examples. I speak on the topic throughout the year and at many conferences.
